Painted by Mitsuhiro Arita for Japan's Expansion Pack in October 1996 — three years before the English Base Set most collectors date it to — this is the only Charizard that set printed. One number, 4/102, covers several printings: the 1st Edition stamp sits below the left of the art window, and without a stamp it is the drop shadow around that window that separates Shadowless from Unlimited. We keep a single record for all of them, so the printing is something to read off the card. Arita came back to it in 2008, redrawing the same Pokémon for Stormfront.
