Painted by Ken Sugimori, whose 1,117 cards in this catalogue outnumber every illustrator but one, for Gym Heroes in 2000. The Japanese print shows Gengar in a graveyard — tombstones and stone crosses in the mist behind it. The English release covered that background in holofoil and kept the Pokémon, so the same card number carries different art in the two regions, which is rarer than a rare card. Its twin in Gym Challenge is 29/132.
